Florida Foreclosures and Bank Repossessions
Realty Trac, an online marketplace for foreclosure properties just released its report on Foreclosures in the US. It reports a total of 1,961,894 foreclosure filings — default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions. These foreclosure filings were on 1,654,634 U.S. properties in the first six months of 2010. This is a 5 percent decrease in total properties from the previous six months but an 8 percent increase in total properties from the first six months of 2009. With respect to Florida real estate, 277,073 properties received a foreclosure filing in the first six months of 2010. Florida had the second highest total of any stately. First-half foreclosure activity in Florida decreased nearly 9 percent from the last 6 months of 2009 but increased 3 percent from the first months of 2009.

A report in the Sun Sentinel on May 25th suggests Florida Condo Associations are struggling to stay afloat. Surveys indicate many associations are in bankruptcy and many owners are behind on condo fees.
Property Wire Optimistic About Florida Housing Market
According to a report by Property Wire, Florida is set to be one of the bargain hotspots of 2010 for real estate investors with some properties selling for as little as $47 a square foot, according to a new report. " All this means that there has seldom been a better time to get into the Florida property market. According to most local experts, prices have nowhere to go but up and a home in Florida bought at today’s bargain prices should prove to be a laudable investment five years from now" said Charles Peerless, director of Winkworth International.
