Erin Mills is a planned community in the
City of Mississauga, located about 30km west of downtown
Toronto and well known for its inter-connected and treed
recreational trail system. Erin Mills is a totally
integrated residential, industrial and commercial community
that was conceived, planned and developed on 8,000 acres of
historic land in the City of Mississauga. The population of
Erin Mills is estimated at 105,000 residents, making it the
most populated area in Mississauga and one of the fastest
growing. The area is also the largest in Mississauga,
occupying most of the western section of the city.
The first phase of Erin Mills was built in the early 1970s.
A display centre formerly built to serve real estate buyers
and residents as a meeting hall was closed in the early
1980s and was transformed into a large, popular nightclub.
Erin Mills West was completed in the mid 1980s. This area
was part of the town of Oakville until 1974 when the city of
Mississauga was established and its westerly boundary
extended north of Dundas Street West. These lands then
became part of Mississauga.
Erin Mills Central contains everything from hi-rise
condominiums to large low density housing. Its focal point
is the Erin Mills Town Centre, which was completed in 1989.
Credit Valley Hospital, the largest in Mississauga, is also
located in this area.
Erin Mills North is still under development. Much of the
real estate is medium density residential, single-detached,
town or row houses, as with the previous phases land for
parkettes and creek courses has been protected from
development.
Erin Mills Real Estate is on the rise with more and more residents every year. This could be because of the new development in the area. It offers the best health care treatment in the city at Credit Valley Hospital.
